Since the very beginning, Katy Dennis has always possessed a passion for medicine. Whether it was helping animals or humans, she didn’t know where her career would lead her, but the call to lend a hand to others began to resonate more loudly and clearly.
Her medical background is accomplished as her heart is big. While living in Flagstaff, Katy started as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), working within nursing homes, hospitals, and hospice in the home with Nurse’s Network to ensure that patients were listened to and supported in their day-to-day. Compassion and care lined her actions, as she assisted patients with regular activities they found difficult to do on their own.
As a child, Katy dreamed of moving to Prescott, and when a position as a Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) at Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) opened, it seemed like the perfect fit. As a CVT, Katy aided doctors by taking EKG tests (Electrocardiogram tests), alongside other methods, to monitor blood flow and the human heart itself.
She worked there for nearly seven years until an opportunity as a Medical Assistant at the Arizona Kidney Disease and Hypertension Centers (AKDHC) unfolded. For three years, Katy provided aid to patients and doctors at AKDHC.
Now at Yavapai Foot and Ankle Center, Katy brings considerable experience and empathy to her role, though she never imagined she would work in podiatry. “It pretty much chose me!” she says of the welcome accident.
